About Cine Makers
A Kathmandu production company making films in Nepal, and making filming in Nepal possible.
Our story
Cine Makers (Cine Makers Pvt. Ltd.) was founded in 2000 (2057 BS) by K.P. Pathak, a Kathmandu-based filmmaker and activist. From the outset, the company set out to promote Nepali cinema and digital content internationally, to facilitate international film projects in Nepal, and to encourage dialogue and experimentation within the Nepali film industry.
In 2016, K.P. Pathak brought together a new team of industry professionals and artists with a focus on line production. The team shared a conviction that Nepal, with its extraordinary natural and cultural diversity, is one of the world’s most compelling and least-known filming destinations. Since then, Cine Makers has promoted Nepal to international producers and supported visiting productions on the ground.
Today, production is at the centre of the company. We make documentaries and commissioned films for institutions and brands, run productions for other producers, and develop our own stories, while remaining the team on the ground for international productions filming in Nepal. Distribution and marketing, event production and training round out the work, drawing on the same people and experience.

To make films in Nepal that deserve to be seen everywhere, and to make Nepal a place where the world’s filmmakers can work with confidence.

- —Give young and emerging talent a platform to develop and prove their skills in every area of filmmaking.
- —Bring Nepali films to audiences at home, across the diaspora and internationally.

Film Location Nepal
Cine Makers maintains Film Location Nepal, an online archive of photographs and video of locations across the country, created to help filmmakers explore Nepal before they arrive. It underpins the location library we offer to productions.
