Production Services & IP Development
Production is the heart of Cine Makers. We make films on commission for institutions and brands, run productions for other producers, and develop and own original stories rooted in Nepal. The same experienced crews, equipment and local knowledge sit behind all three.
Part one
Production services
Whether you need a film made for your organisation or a team to deliver your production, we take responsibility for the whole job: research and development, budget, crew, shoot, post-production and delivery.
Commissioned documentaries and documentation
We produce documentaries and audio-visual documentation for development agencies, government bodies, local governments and cultural institutions, recording programmes, heritage and community life with the craft of a feature documentary.
- —Programme and impact documentation for development organisations
- —Heritage and cultural documentation, from festivals and performance to living traditions
- —Films for local governments and communities
- —Archive-ready masters, subtitled versions and short cut-downs for reporting and social media
Recent commissions include audio-visual documentation for GIZ – CPS Nepal on peacebuilding and social development, and heritage documentation that became the films Tantrik Dance and The Stone of Faith.
Institutional, corporate and branded films
- —Institutional and corporate films
- —Commercials and branded content for brands and agencies
- —Awareness and campaign films
- —Event films and highlight edits
Line production for other producers
For Nepali and international producers who need a partner to run the production, not only to support it. If you only need fixers, permits and logistics, see Film Fixing & Ground Handling.
- —Budgets and schedules built on real Nepali rates, travel times and weather windows
- —Production management, crew hiring and on-set management
- —Local budget management, cash handling, per diems and vendor payments
- —Casting of local talent and extras
- —Reconciled accounts and a final cost report in the format your company needs
Crew and equipment
Our crews work together regularly, from single-camera documentary units to scripted features. We hold a core equipment inventory in Kathmandu and source anything else through trusted suppliers, often at short notice, with technicians who know how the kit behaves at altitude.
- —Camera: from documentary kits to professional cinema cameras, with lenses and accessories
- —Grip and stabilisation: tripods, gimbals, Steadicam, dollies, cranes and jibs
- —Lighting: from battery-powered LED for off-grid work to HMIs, including the ARRISUN 40/25
- —Sound: boom kits, radio microphones and recorders
- —Aerials: DJI drone platforms, flown under the required clearances, and helicopter-based aerial filming
Rates are quoted per project.
Post-production
Editing, colour grading, sound and finishing are delivered through two established partner facilities. Post costs are built into every budget from day one, so there are no surprises after the shoot.
- —Offline editing, colour grading and sound mixing
- —Subtitling and language versions
- —Deliverables for broadcasters, platforms and festivals
Part two
IP development
Alongside client work, we develop and own a slate of stories rooted in Nepal, in Nepali and regional languages, and build the rights behind them so they can travel.
Development
- —An active slate of original features, series and documentaries
- —Options and adaptation rights on Nepali literature, true stories and other source material
- —Archive-to-documentary projects drawn from footage we have shot across Nepal
Formats
- —Features and series in Nepali and regional languages
- —Documentary, our main route into international co-production
- —Vertical microdrama, developed and produced by a dedicated unit for mobile-first, short-form audiences
Financing and co-production
- —Applications to international grants, film funds and development labs
- —Co-production structuring for international producers who need a Nepali partner
- —Rights participation where we come in as co-producer
International producers can bring projects to us at any stage. We offer creative development, access to locations and talent, and the full support of our production and fixing teams.
